BUSINESS ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN LEAD AT DELOITTE, LONDON UK

“I recently completed the Business Architecture Masterclass (BAMC) administered by Inspired Consulting and presented by Graham McLeod. This being my second completely virtual training course, the first being done through Oxford University’s Said Business School. The course was well managed with materials at a similar quality to that of Oxford University. Sessions were also run in a similar fashion where there was a mix of lecture, discussion and break out rooms for group exercises.

I am an experienced Business Architect having first been introduced to the subject at University in 2000. The early part of my career focused on developing my Business Analysis skills, which provided the stepping stone for Business Architecture. After moving to the UK in 2008, I have worked in many industries including Financial Services, Utilities and Professional Services. I am an active member of the Business Architecture Guild and have completed several Business Architecture related courses.

The BAMC has certainly been one of the more useful courses that I have attended in that the spectrum of content presented is far broader than I would have expected. To truly take advantage of the material presented in this course, it is advisable to have a basic Business Architecture foundation as well as some business or operational experience. The subjects covered extend beyond the traditional content that you would expect - to starting to think outside the box, different perspectives, what matters to the design of a business and its people. This is why a broader knowledge of operational activities at a senior level may be required.

When I signed up for the course, I was very interested in how to come up with new ways to visualise Business Architecture related data into formats that could be consumed and used by senior management for the purposes of making informed decisions using reliable Business Architecture data. My area focuses on Business Transformation and in most cases I have found that management have been working from programme led data generation and not really focussing on what the Business Design needs in order to transform effectively. Business Architecture is an excellent source of additional data that is linked to the architecture of the business and can really help with tough decisions concerning business transformation and strategy alignment.

This course is a great option to solidify basic Business Architecture training already completed. It goes beyond the Business Architecture Guild’s BIZBOK guide and the Zachmann Framework Masterclasses that I have done. If you are looking for a course that will introduce you to some of the latest research in this field and beyond, I would highly recommend this course.”
